Emergency steps for suspected abuse
In an emergency abuse situation, follow these steps in order (ordered list demo):
- Call 911 first if anyone is in immediate danger.
- Contact the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-962-2873.
- For non-emergencies, report by phone, fax, or web through the hotline channels.

Adjudicated: The court finds a youth guilty of committing a delinquent act. The court can commit the youth or place the youth on community supervision.
Adjudication Withheld: The court finds that a youth committed a delinquent act, but withholds an adjudication of delinquency.
Youth programs
The Florida Network of Youth and Family Services can provide crisis counseling, parenting information, respite services, and referrals. Children In Need of Services / Families In Need of Services (CINS/FINS) offers counseling and mentoring for youth and families who need additional support.

What We Do
- Intervene early in the lives of at-risk youth to decrease juvenile arrest and recidivism.
- Implement programs and partnerships that keep children from penetrating deeper into the system.
After contact with law enforcement, youth may be screened, diverted, or referred for further juvenile justice processing depending on the circumstances.
The court determines the appropriate outcome, which may include probation, commitment, or other dispositions under Florida law.
